It's a pity when blog entries begin with "it's been a while since I wrote on this blog...", so I won't do that. Two weeks ago, today, Pandora spent all afternoon enthralled with some pigeons that were playing in the balcony below the one in our apartment. We live on a fourth floor. I went to bed at around 11PM and she was around. When Paula came home, after midnight, Pandora didn't come out to greet her. She woke me up, and we started looking for her. I thought I might have locked up in a closet or drawer. But we heard her crying downstairs. Paula ran to find her, and she was hiding underneath a car. She had fallen trying to get to the freaking pigeons. We ran her to a 24 hour vet and she slept there that night. They couldn't run any tests until her adrenaline was down. The next day they anesthesized her, they did some x-rays and found out she had broken her two front legs, badly. She had surgery on one leg and the other, broken completely in half, had some screws put in with a thing to hold the little forearm together. It has been awful. She has been in a lot of pain and now it turns out she has been playing with the screws in that leg, lying on them, and in general, moving them. Not good. Not good at all. Today they had to put two more in to hold the arm together. I dropped her at the vet's early morning and she'll be back home tomorrow night. These pictures are from the morning after she returned home from the first surgery. Taken with my phone.
