PETScan

PET Scan

I haven't written because... well... let's be honest, I've been lazy. Thursday morning I went for a second PET scan. The first one was in February if you remember, when they staging process. This time I didn't even feel the pain or numbness of keeping my arms up for so long. I was so tired and had been up so late the night before that I slept through the whole thing.

After the test, I saw Dr. LaCasce, who came in the examination room with a huge smile and said, "nothing". It was the shortest appointment I've had in months. The PET was negative, there were no "active" lymph nodes, meaning that the chemotherapy worked and there is no cancer in me any more. It is not yet a complete victory. It takes two years for a full, final remission, but it is great, great news. I will still have to do the radiotherapy to help avoid the cancer coming back, but I'm almost cured! That night I celebrated with good friends and called my sister and dad to tell them.

It was a great week, great, great week... except for some difficult and sad good-byes to friends going back to their native Rio de Janeiro's...

Thanks to all my good friends for their support, help, company, prayers... I will still need your good will, but it's a good time to start thanking you all. I sure wouldn't have been able to do this without you. I won't name names... you know who you are. I cannot begin to thank you.

Inside out / Mis adentros

Wanna see what I look like from the inside? Not really? Well, anyway, this is what my PET Scan looks like... there are many more slides, of course, but I just scanned two that seem to be distinguishable parts of my anatomy :-D. No, I have no idea what they mean... I might use them to decorate my white walls!!
