on blogging

A few weeks back, last year, actually, I tried to improvised a quick workshop on blogging for some friends at work. I started by showing them an aggregator (Google Reader) and how it works not only for blogs but for newspapers and other sites that have rss feeds. Then we logged on to wordpress and blogger, created a couple blogs and played around a little bit. There were only a 2 pcs in the room so there wasn't much "mucking about" with the blogs. After the workshop I felt I had very unsuccessful.

Travel news: March, Portland-Boston

I was invited by our friends at Intel to attend the Intel Education International Roundtable in Portland, OR, the first week of March. They are making the travel arrangements for me, and I asked my boss to give me a week to visit Boston after the roundtable (I didn't take any vacation in December-January). She generously agreed, so I'll hopefully be visiting from March 9-16. I'm excited about seeing friends again, visiting the Ed. school, and so many other things. Too bad FiedApplePie is no longer there. I'd love to see her, the Red Haired Girl and the new dog.

Blog 2: EdGeek (my serious blog) || El blog serio

Soy poco imaginativo.

Good and Bad Bloggers -> me

I'm not a good blogger.  A good blogger writes daily or close to that. At least once a week. I come and go, posting a lot sometimes, and disappearing for weeks. However I do try to blog, and have made a decision. It probably won't make me a better blogger, but I'm gonna split up my blog into two different ones. Vita-cora (this one) will continue as my personal blog, and I'll install another for everything that would fall under education. I still don't know what I'm gonna call that blog, but I'll get onto it soon. I'll start moving old posts as soon as I get it installed.

Lazy, lazy lazy

My own habits make me think we should be trying to give every teacher a laptop computer if we want them to appropriate and use computers in the classroom and their daily life.

Now that my IBM is broken and I'm using the old Compaq I've realized (duh!) how important it is to have a computer you're comofortable and happy with... I have also learned some more about using Ubuntu and it's great, but using a computer I don't really like makes a big difference. I use it a lot less.
