Como si pasara poco tiempo en línea... trato de mantener un blog, fracasé con los podcasts y ahora me dio por montar un wiki. Además de leer algunos blogs de amigos y navegar aleatoriamente. El wiki ha sido divertido hasta ahora y estoy tratando de ver por mí mismo para qué sirve.

I saw my new doctor today, Dr. Restrepo, for my first follow-up appointment after I finished radiatio therapy in Boston. My sister came with me and we went in to see the doctor together. We chatted for quite a long time about general nonsense based on my career and his experience and opinions about technology and education in a country like ours, where most people have never used a computer, let alone the Internet.

Fanny Mickey and her crew have started promoting the 2006 Theater Festival. I checked out the website, and it could hardly be more pathetic. Little information, badly organized... No way to buy tickets online; little information about venues, plays, companies, directors; no information in English. Anyway... the festival is on, and I'll try and go to a few plays. If I have some money later, I'll even buy and "abono"...
Some time has passed since my last post, and yeah, well, I've been lazy, not done much, not posted much. There isn't any great news, really, and I've been at home a lot, sleeping, reading, or just hanging out.
One of the mailing lists I subscribe to, wwwedu (we do), has been discussing the use of wiki for textbooks. It seems like a great idea to have books that teachers and students can personalize, add to, transform and adapt to their local context... and of course... keep for future generations and thus make better books for kids.
Yesterday I went out with the old bosses/friends. We went to the place round the corner from my house, never one of my favorites, but very conveniently located. I saw old and current English students, had a few beers, more than one laugh. It was good to go out with different people for a change, though as usual things are mostly the same. They work pretty hard and go to the beach whenever they have a chance. They talked about building their website and needing some help with that. I think I'll look over what they have and maybe help them decide what they need, want and can afford.
Finally, after a long wait I am online in my study, The Swamp. A Range Expander and a new router did the trick... not a cheap trick, though. It took hours of tech.
