So, I went to the doctor

nando's picture

Yeah, Monday I had good (and blue) company to go to the doctor (Castro is his name) and it was as uneventful as it has been since I finished treatment. Which is, of course, really good! This guy I've seen only twice, but he was well recommended and is a lot nicer than the previous one, Dr. Restrepo. He started by asking how I had been feeling, or rather, if I had been feeling great. And well, I have. He asked the usual "have you had fever?", "have you lost weight?", "have you had any pain?" questions, and then listened to my heart, noted my blood pressure, poked around my lymph nodes and we sat back down. I suggested he ordered some labs and a CT Scan. It's been about a year since I got the last scan. He agreed and ordered blood tests: blood chart, LDH, creatinina, and a CT Scan. I'll get the scan sometime next week and get back to him the following one. I was satisfied with the outcome. Now I would get some tests and come back later. Appointment over. But the blue person sitting next to me tends to ask good questions: "how certain can you be now before the tests?", she asked him. He said the interview gave him lots of information. If something were wrong I would feel it. He said he could be pretty sure (85%) I was fine just by the way I was feeling, but the tests will confirm and let us all rest lighthearted (for six more months, I guess). It was all good news! Panic

My laptop stopped working a few hours ago. I'd done some work in the morning on it, closed the lid to make it hybernate, took off to the office and when I turned it on, I just got an error. It doesn't even load the system now. Error 0200 Disk Failure. I had so much information in it that hasn't been backed up, including everything I did this morning, tons of work, my email (which I'd saved for years up to now)... Panic. Panic.Panic.Panic.

I think I took the Job

I went to a meeting this morning, innocently expecting to just listen, and Rosario just threw me in ("me echó al agua"... what's the English equivalent of that?) saying I am the new member of the team, who will work on building networked communities of practice... I just said... "OK" and introduced myself to the audience. I think I'll start in January.

Extra, extra, read all about it

The rabbi has made the news. Described as a chubby 28-year-old, my good friend made the New York Daily News with his new job in the Bronx. We are all very glad for him and congratulate him for being the first to make the paper. You can read all about it here.

Breaking news - 8/11

August 11, Thursday after next, at 12:30 PM I will be boarding a plane in Logan airport: destination: Bogotá! Finding a job and living out of savings proved more difficult than I expected. I have better leads and job opportunities back home, where a Harvard degree is valued and rare, not common and almost useless as in Boston. So, if you wanna say good-bye, give me a call. If you wanna come visit in Bogotá, definitely give me a call or e-mail me. It's a great city and Colombia is a beautiful country despite what the U.S. department of state might say about it and its dangers.
