I hold a Master's degree in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and an undergraduate degree in Spanish Philology from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. For over 20 years, I have been an educator, in positions that have combined teaching, administration and leadership. I have led processes of innovation in educational settings to improve the quality of teaching, learning, assessment and school management. I believe creativity and innovation are central to learning in the XXI century, along with using technology to communicate, research, create, make decisions and ultimately learn continually.
I have been in and out of a classroom as a teacher and student for most of my life, and I love teaching and learning new things. I have worked in education since 1998: as a classroom teacher at Centro Colombo Americano, Colegio San Carlos, ABC English and Universidad Nacional de Colombia, as well as a consultant and policy-maker at the Ministry of Education. From March 2008 until June 2015, I was Technology Director at Gimnasio La Montaña (GLM), where I designed and led the implementation of the school’s first strategic educational technology plan. In this period our work brought online collaboration and tutoring systems, a computational thinking curriculum, data-based decision making tools, along with the infrastructure needed to support these innovations to the daily life of the school.

In 2015 my role changed to Director of Innovation and Development. I have continued to lead the educational technology efforts, but also support innovations from many different areas of the school, related to technology integration, but also curriculum development, assessment, 21 century skills, global competency, school infrastructure, and international learning opportunities for students.
Also in 2015, I was asked by UNCOLI, an association of private schools in Bogotá, and the Ministry of Education, to lead the design and implementation of Alianza para la Excelencia (APE)-Aulas Sin Fronteras, a project that seeks to help improve the quality of learning in 54 schools in Chocó, a region in the pacific coast of our country. The project innovatively uses video, print materials and teacher encounters to exchange best practices in the teaching of Language, Math, Science and Social Science between peers in Bogotá and Chocó. Between 2015 and 2017 I balanced my work at GLM with ASF. In August 2017 I returned full time to GLM and support the efforts of ASF as a member of the project’s leadership committee.
